Mandatory menu labelling for large dining establishment chains was introduced in the United States in May 2018. The UK federal government has been consulting for the past year on necessary calorie labelling of dining establishment menus as part of its youth obesity plan. The researchers said that menu labelling may motivate dining establishments to change the material of their food and also that those chains with ‘much healthier’ offerings are more most likely to label their menus.
