DOUGLAS COUNTY, Neb. (WOWT) — Health officials say Douglas County has recorded its first official flu death of the season.
Nebraska is experiencing a high activity level in flu-like illness so far this season.
The Douglas County Health Department says a woman over the age of 65 died earlier in December.
She had experienced flu-like symptoms and authorities have now confirmed it was the flu.
The Health Department plans to update the status of this year’s flu cases on Monday afternoon.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tally of Influenza-Like Illness Activity for the week ending December 14th, the latest available, shows Nebraska with a High Activity Level. Iowa was classified as Minimal.
