“After coming into contact with measles, it normally takes about 14 days prior to the rash appears. Phone your GP and explain that you may have measles. The advice from the HSE is to talk to your GP or maternity hospital as quickly as possible if you’re pregnant and you think you have come into contact with measles.

For some individuals measles can cause severe health problem including ear infections, lung infections, fits and brain damage. Measles during pregnancy can cause your baby to be born too little or too quickly, or trigger miscarriage or stillbirth. The recommendations from the HSE is to talk to your GP or maternity health center as soon as possible if you’re pregnant and you think you have come into contact with measles.
