Second Central Texas district cancels classes due to strep, flu – KWTX

HUBBARD, Texas (KWTX) Students in the Hubbard ISD are getting an early start on Christmas vacation.

Because of an outbreak of flu and strep, Thursday classes have been canceled, the district said Wednesday afternoon.

“This will allow us to sanitize and disinfect our property to protect the health of our students, staff, and their families,” the district said in a message on its website.

Thursday was to have been an early-release day.

The district’s Christmas vacation starts Friday.

Secondary students taking 5th through 8th period exams will have Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 to review ahead of the final exam on Jan. 9.

Report cards will be issued on Jan. 15.

The elementary school awards program has been postponed until Jan. 10 and report cards will be sent home on the same day.

The Marlin ISD announced earlier Wednesday it was canceling classes on Thursday and Friday because of illness.
